Welcome to Gizs World

Chinchillas eat chinchilla pellets and also like rasins but not too often for health reasons. For a small bag of chinchilla pellets it usually costs about 85p. The rasins you can find in your local super market.

Chinchillas do not smell but do need a sand bath at least once a week. You can find chinchilla dust at your local pet shop. Put your dust into a box/baking tin and put it in the cage. Your chinchilla needs lots of exercise so let them out in a safe room or house but be careful because they could get away or gnaw on things like electricity cables (which Giz did do, but he has recovered now).

Preparation
In order to make sure your baby chinchilla has a nice, comfortable and prepared outlet into the real world you should read the following:- If, that is only if you see them mate then you should mark on a calender from the day you see them mate. Then count 111 days from your mating date and mark on it chin birth. They are usually born within two weeks of that date. A few weeks before she is due you should take her to a vet or other knowledgeable person, I take my chinchillas to Pet Spectrum, Potters Bar (Herts, UK) it is a very good pet store that knows a lot about chinchillas. Buy powdered milk for chinchillas just in case the mother cannot feed or abandons the young. Take out its sand bath 4 days before the birth. A day or two before the birth, put some fresh, clean hay on the cage floor.
